swallow bird iconWelcome to ShannaHoward.com!

I'm a communications professional with more than ten years of professional writing, editing, and Web development experience. I am an alumni of the The University of Texas at Austin (Journalism 1999, Czech 2000) and am currently the Webmaster for The Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) at UT. I've been based out of Austin for more than a dozen years, but I spent a stint working as a freelance writer and Web editor for globopolis.com in Prague, Czech Republic, after graduation. I've written for The Prague Post, Texas Music Magazine, The Austin-American Statesman, Experience Austin, Citysearch, The Frisky, and others. I have worked as an editor, Web developer, and Webmaster for various organizations, including UT and the State of Texas. With a sales/marketing partner, I built the Web site SoCoDistrict.com to create a portal for my favorite Austin neighborhood. In my spare time, you can find me enjoying live music, traveling, crafting and sewing, swimming, or hiking with my two rescue dogs. I also just started an Etsy shop and hope to add more to it in the days ahead. I've started out with flowered and feathered hair clips, and plan to add mosiac art and hopefully silver jewelry in the future as I get back into jewelry-making.

I also freelance in Web site design and development for local Austin businesses. I'm finding that many small Austin businesses just don't have the budget to pay the huge fees some Web developers charge to create a Web site. I'm able to build a Web site for your business for a reasonable cost in the spirit of supporting local businesses. I can also help with other communication needs including writing, editing, and proofreading, as well as digital photography and graphic design. Contact me today to discuss creating a Web site for your business!

Cheers,

Shanna
